Ed Rainey - Senior Counsel
Biography
Ed Rainey is a seasoned trial attorney with nearly 30 years of civil litigation experience representing businesses, insurers, and individuals in complex matters throughout Texas and federal courts. His practice encompasses personal injury, wrongful death, trucking and transportation litigation, products liability, commercial disputes, premises liability, construction litigation, insurance coverage matters, and mass tort claims.
Known for his strategic approach and courtroom advocacy, Ed has served as lead counsel in more than 20 trials, conducted over 1,000 depositions, and participated in more than 400 mediations. He has successfully handled high-exposure cases involving catastrophic injuries, wrongful death claims, commercial disputes, and first-party insurance litigation, earning a reputation for practical problem-solving and strong client advocacy.
In addition to his extensive trial experience, Ed has significant experience managing litigation teams, mentoring attorneys and staff, and guiding complex cases from initial investigation through trial and appeal. His background includes representing both plaintiffs and defendants, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of litigation strategy from all perspectives.
Before practicing law, Ed worked as an environmental engineer, giving him a unique technical foundation that has proven valuable in complex litigation involving scientific, environmental, and engineering issues.
Ed earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado School of Law, where he received honors in trial advocacy and legal writing. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biophysical Chemistry with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Houston. He is licensed to practice in Texas and is admitted to multiple federal district courts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
